How to check EPF balance online: The EPFO annually credits interest to over 24 crore EPF accounts. For FY 2022-23, the interest rate is 8.15%, announced in June 2023. EPF, a social security scheme, involves monthly contributions from both employees and employers. 

Apart from tax benefits, it offers higher interest rates than other savings schemes. Although interest is calculated monthly, it is credited at the end of the financial year. To check your EPF balance on your mobile, follow this guide.

EPF contributions not only provide tax benefits but also offer higher interest rates compared to other small savings schemes.

Even though the interest is calculated monthly, it is credited to the EPF account at the end of the financial year. If you wish to check your EPF balance on your mobile phone, here's a guide on how to do it.

How to Check EPF Balance Online Using a Mobile Phone?

To check your EPF balance, you must have an activated Universal Account Number (UAN), a unique number assigned to every employee by the EPFO. You can check your balance through a missed call, SMS, or the UMANG app.

Check EPF Balance Through Call:

1. Give a missed call to 9966044425 from a registered mobile number.

2. You'll receive an SMS with your EPF details and account balance in a few seconds.

3. Ensure your mobile number and Know Your Customer (KYC) details are linked to the UAN.

Check EPF Balance Through SMS:

1. Send an SMS to 7738299899 with ‘EPFOHO UAN’ from your registered mobile number.

2. You'll receive an SMS with EPF details, including balance, last contribution, and KYC information.

Check EPF Balance Through the UMANG App:

1. Go to Google Play Store and download the UMANG app.

2. Register using your UAN-linked mobile number or MeriPehchan.

3. Log in using MPIN or OTP.

4. Click on ‘All services’ and search for ‘EPFO.’

5. Select ‘View Passbook’ under Employee Centric Services.

6. Enter UAN and OTP, then click ‘Submit.’

7. The page will display your employer’s name. Click on it to see the EPF balance and passbook.

8. Download the passbook by clicking the download option in the corner of the screen.
