Assessment Year 2026-27 ke liye Income Tax Return (ITR) filing season chal raha hai, aur due dates ko lekar clarity hona bahut zaroori hai. Chahe aap salaried ho, business karte ho, ya professional income earn karte ho deadline miss karna aapko late fee, interest aur even loss carry forward ka right chhinne jaisa nuksaan pahuncha sakta hai. Is blog mein hum saari important dates, penalties aur rules ko simple bhasha mein samjhayenge.
ITR Filing Due Dates for AY 2026-27
Is baar ITR forms ke hisaab se due dates alag-alag rakhi gayi hain. Neeche table mein poori clarity di gayi hai:
| ITR Form / Category | Applicable To | Due Date |
|---|---|---|
| ITR-1 & ITR-2 | Non-audit cases Salaried individuals, Capital Gains, etc. | 31st July 2026 |
| ITR-3 & ITR-4 | Non-audit cases Business & Profession, including eligible Section 44AD cases | 31st August 2026 |
Late Fee under Section 234F
Agar aap apni ITR is due date ke andar file nahi karte, to Section 234F ke under late fee lagti hai chahe aapka koi tax due ho ya na ho, subject to the provisions of the Act.
| Total Income | Late Fee |
|---|---|
| Up to Rs 5,00,000 | Rs 1,000 |
| Above Rs 5,00,000 | Rs 5,000 |
Yeh fee automatic lagti hai jaise hi due date nikal jati hai isliye "no tax payable hai to koi fikar nahi" wali soch galat hai.
Interest under Section 234A
Agar aapka koi tax outstanding hai aur aap late file karte ho, to Section 234A ke under 1% per month ya part thereof ka interest laga diya jata hai original due date se leke actual filing date tak. Yani ek din ki bhi deri ho, to poore mahine ka interest count hota hai.
Belated Return under Section 139(4)
Agar aap original due date miss kar dete ho, to ghabraane ki zaroorat nahi aap belated return file kar sakte ho.
Belated return ki last date: 31st December 2026, ya assessment complete hone se pehle jo bhi pehle ho.
Important: Losses (house property loss aur unabsorbed depreciation ko chhodkar) carry forward karne ke liye, return original due date ke andar hi file karni hogi yani 31st July ya 31st August 2026 tak. Agar return sirf belated return ke roop mein file hoti hai, to yeh carry forward eligibility khatam ho jaati hai.
Iska matlab agar aapke paas business loss ya capital loss hai jise aap future income ke against set-off karna chahte ho, to deadline miss karna aapko seedha uss financial benefit se mehroom kar dega.
Kyun Time Par File Karna Zaroori Hai
Ek jagah miss ki gayi deadline teen tarah ka nuksaan kar sakti hai:
1. Section 234F ke under fixed late fee.
2. Outstanding tax par Section 234A ka monthly interest.
3. Eligible losses ko carry forward karne ka right permanently khona.
