📘 The Income Tax Act, 2025: Section & Form Overhaul

The most critical change this month is the absolute retirement of legacy Income Tax Act, 1961 provisions. Old sections will cause immediate system rejection.

Nature of Payment Legacy Section (1961) New Section (2025)
Salary Deductions Section 192 Section 392
Contractors/Rent 194C, 194J, 194H Section 393
TCS Collection Section 206C Section 394

Critical Form Changes: Form 16 (Annual Salary Certificate) is officially renamed Form 130.

🛠️ Action Plan for Accounting Professionals

  • Patch ERP Systems: Ensure support for Sections 392, 393, and 394.
  • Update RPU: Download the latest FVU versions before uploading Q4 data.
  • Audit Client Masters: Transition client deduction templates to the new statutory framework.
  • Draft Client Advisories: Communicate the replacement of Form 16 with Form 130.
