State Government Appeals For Authorization of Police Action Against GST Evaders

After a meeting of the high-level committee on GST, Law, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil informed the media about the discussion. 

He revealed that currently, the Commercial Taxes Department has the authority to take action against those who evade paying GST (Goods and Services Tax). 

However, the State government has suggested to the Central government that provisions should be made to allow action against GST evaders under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). 

This means that the State government is proposing that evading GST should be considered a criminal offense and subject to legal action under the IPC.

The statement means that the person is highlighting that the central government is planning to change the GST (Goods and Services Tax) Act. The state government has expressed concerns about these amendments to the central government. 

Additionally, the state government believes that it is essential for everyone to have access to information about the GST payments made by traders, including the specific amount paid.
